Welcome to Rawrville!

Welcome! My name is IAN O'DEA, and I'm a freelance WEB DESIGNER, GRAPHIC DESIGNER, and GAME DESIGNER that works at the ADLER PLANETARIUM on the IBEX team.

What Have You Been Doing Lately?

By Ian O'Dea

While I've been working at the Adler Planetarium, I've had the chance to expand a lot of my abilities, especially in the areas of PHP and Javascript (even more especially with using the wonderful jQuery framework, which is a godsend), and I've recently become interested in a project of sorts. Namely, another redesign of my personal site. This would possibly be accompanied by a launch of a professional site to compliment this one, so I could use this as a personal playground for my ideas and my professional site as a resume/portfolio/hire me kind of thing. If anybody actually reads this, you can share your comments via email, on my blog post about it, or as replies on Twitter. Any input is appreciated!

XML Switch and the Migration Patterns of Blogs

By Ian O'Dea

Well, I have switched from using a MySQL database for my site to using an XML database. Hopefully, this change will accomodate me quite well, and I hope to update this frontpage more often in the future! Something you might notice is that I have slimmed down my Projects page and only include the sites and games I feel are important to show. Other samples of my work are available on request, the list is nowhere near exhaustive. In other news, I saved a bunch of money by switching to Gei- Nah, I just migrated my blog over to this server, where I can use a custom theme, not worry about how much bandwidth/space/whatever WordPress feels like allotting to me, and generally feel like I am much more cool than I actually am. Nothing too crazy awesome, but make sure you update your bookmarks, I guess.
